Bland

Something finally needs to happen to her,
something that would add color to her
bland desert life. 😐

Sometimes

Sometimes..
you collide with a person, and
you get this feeling, that they
might become important to you.

Maybe it is from a look or an act of kindness.

Or maybe,
you just like the way your world feels
when they are in it. 🙂

Pursuit

If you live in India or have ever traveled to India in the second decade of 21st century, you would have found a lot of places having fancy street foods, specially, in the metropolitan cities like, New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

If you exclude the posh areas of New Delhi and NCR(National Capital Region), and then walk on a very normal street/roads which connects welfare housing societies, you are likely to easily spot the following roadside options like, Ice-Cream tricycles, Open roof stalls of Sugarcane Juice, roasted corn and maybe the push-truck(thela) tickiwala(also called, Chaatwala).

An addition to this group is the roadside “Gol-Gappe”(also called PaniPuri). Now, what’s PaniPuri? It consists of a round, hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water (known as imli pani), tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion or chickpeas. The complete setup on which Gol-Gappe, Pani and other spices are placed is very easy to carry and move, and also can be quickly placed anywhere and can start selling it back. Now you are thinking, why I am writing about all this stuff? Here’s why.

Every evening when I am traveling back home from work, in the last part of the transit I have to make a 20 minutes walk to get to my apartment. In these 20 minutes, starting from getting down from the auto, finding the Panwari(guy who sells Paan, which is made up of betel leaf with areca nut) and cigarettes(which is sold more than the paan these days), interestingly, his wife also sits during late hours to keep the business up. Some 200 steps ahead, I find the Ice-Cream tricycles from Vadilal, Kwality Walls, Creambell and newly famous Havmor, which is expensive to my pocket. 😛

After 5 minutes, I find a little boy selling Gol-Gappe at the corner of the right turn of the road. I walk towards him, and ask for the rates. He replies, “4 pieces for 10 bucks”. I said, “Can I have it?”, he offers me a dona(which is a paper bowl). The Panipuri tasted amazing!! 😀

Yesterday evening, I left early from work and while getting back home, I met the boy again. He is 3/4 of my height, considering I am not tall, so he looks short. He should be around 10-12 years of age. I asked him, “What’s your name?”. He replies with a smile, “Vansh Gupta”. I asked him if he goes to school, he replies “Yes, I go to school”. With a thought on how he gets time to study, I asked “When you study or do your homework?”, he says “during night, after having dinner”.

I asked him if I can take his picture which I will share on internet with my writing. He shakes his head with a smile. 🙂 I said “Okay, can I take picture of your setup?” And he says “Yes” this time. I also checked with him, “So, where are you from and who else are you in your family?”, to which he replies, “I am Mirzapur(in Uttar Pradesh), and here I have my father and brother who also sell Gol-Gappe, whereas my mother lives in hometown(Mirzapur)”.

He has friends of same age. They also sell Gol-Gappe. One is Rajkumar and another is Komal. I have ate Panipuri from them too. 🙂 Komal is the smart one, like a leader among these boys. I think he likes momos because I have found him eating momos a couple of times. Whereas, Vansh is the good-looking one. But they all are very simple and happy going boys. 🙂

At the age of 12, helping family to earn enough so as to get one time meal is really unbelievably appreciable. Just think about the sacrifices they have been making, like missing their mother, not playing outside in evening so that they help their father and surely not able to spend enough time to learn and study so that in future they don’t need to sell Panipuri.

The least you can offer is a Smile 🙂 to them, do not see them as someone lesser than you and just be good and motivate everyone around you. Life is not easy for everyone.

Merry & Happy

Merry Christmas 🎋 & Happy New Year ❤

Sometime all we need is a new perspective.
After publishing 125 posts, and seeking 1000’s of kind notes from fellow bloggers.. The blog finally decided for a change that has been slightly hard to take. The change which the blog author was willing to make for long and finally took it. The blog has a new URL(web address).
Welcome to.. thebrokenspecs (https://thebrokenspecs.wordpress.com)

Do you know, pair of broken glasses left on US gallery floor was once mistaken for art. 😀

Why its named, “The Broken Specs“?
I was remembering one occasion when I fell asleep in bed with my glasses on. When I woke up I was lying on them and they were all flat. I tried to bend the temples back and broke both of them. Luckily, I could see with an old pair of glasses that were still stronger than the prescription that I needed at the time. But I was very sad because I liked the broken glasses a lot and they couldn’t be repaired. 😐

It is important to hold Love & Trust with a lot of care, don’t let it down, because once broken they cannot be repaired. 😔

Hope you enjoy reading the blog.. 🙂

Salutation

It was the first time I saw her speaking with someone. She was on the other side of the library hall with one of my friend. They shared a laughter as I approach there, and it appeared like they enjoyed their moment. I greeted my friend and said “Hi” to the Miss. I realized that I will get late to catch the bus so I gave a quick hug to my friend and said goodbye to the Miss. 🙂

The next day, I was sitting on a couch in the corridor, waiting for my next class. There she came, walking in my direction. Her class was next to my class, so she sits and waits. “Hi” I greeted her. She said nothing. :/ Maybe she didn’t hear it. I stood up and moved to my class as my professor entered the classroom. 🤓

I didn’t really know, “If she heard and ignored me, or didn’t she heard my salutation?” I asked myself. 🤔
The class got over. It was an interesting session, but I was very tired. Heading towards the bus station, I saw her walking to-and-fro the bus stop. “So she also takes the bus?” I asked myself. Maybe this time, she will hear my salutation. When I reached the bus stop, I said in a loud voice “Good Afternoon”. Now it was confirmed, I know she won’t reply. 😳

Two weeks later, I was in the Math center, helping junior students with their homework. She came, passed by, and sat down. Miss was really silent. I was able to notice she had a problem, she needed help, but she won’t call the Math tutor. Then she raises her hand and made a sign to call the tutor. Why can’t she just say “Excuse me, sir?” I asked myself. Here my friend came, she greeted me and I greet her back. 🙂

“Can you please help my friend?” my friend asks.
“Sure, I will.” I replied.
“Thanks, and please be patient with her; she is deaf.” 😐

Blind Love

How often we have heard this phrase, “Love is blind”?

In a group of friends, we had a lot of jokes on this expression. Since many of the lads have never been in a relation, so when they see a decent guy with a girl who is beautiful, they say “Love is blind”. 😀

For me,
Love is blind, when we don’t care how a person looks or how annoying they are, all we do is Love them unconditionally. 🙂

Here is a small story I came across,
Few days back in a cold foggy morning, I saw two people sitting next to each other outside the center court of the coffee halt. They look just like some other girl and a boy on this planet. But there was one uncommon thing in those two people sitting together. They were constantly facing towards the bushes, with one hand together. 🙂 They never faced each other.

The air floating around had some good content of water molecules which turned everyone’s breathe to fog. And just like a little kid, I was enjoying my winter smoking that way. 😛 The place was quiet & I was looking in the same direction where those two people were looking at and waiting for my cup of coffee to come, all of a sudden I heard, “I Love You” from the boy. Within seconds I heard, “I too” from the girl. ❤ That brought a smile to me. 🙂

Just then my coffee arrived and I was still smiling. Serving the coffee the server asked me, “What’s special sir?”. I replied, “Good to hear the word Love in this cold morning”. He saw me looking into that direction and replied, “They cannot see each other, they are blind. Sir” and he walked back to court.

I still had a smile but with a thought on what love really is! It is not looks, it is a feeling which you never had before. It is a feeling for one another.

On that very day, I realized the true meaning of “Love is blind”. 🙂

A Gathering

Saturday, 19:07

A scarlet colored sun is about to set and here I am in a park close by the swimming pool center. My friend called me and told that few of his friends are here today and he wants a gathering. My friend and the guys I was told about were already seated at the place and were enjoying themselves, I also joined them. 🙂

After few talks and rewind of memories, a guy came up with some questions. 😉 I heard from my friend that this guy is a good observant. The questions were about sharing your thoughts. It sounded extremely great activity.

And he started, 😉

First question came up for a guy who’s exceptionally funny. 😀 He makes everyone laugh. He was asked, ‘What is the one thing you’re trying extremely hard to accept?’ 😉 He looked at the observant and said, ‘at the moment.. you!!’ 😀 Everyone chuckle and then he answered ‘Hard to accept that life is too short not to have the perfect coffee and haircut you want.’ 😀

The next question to a other person, ‘If you want to write a note for yourself, what it would be?’ Uncommonly he replied, ‘at 17 or 21, nobody is worth stressing over. Leave people behind, move on. It is time to find yourself, the world is yours and.. life goes on.’ This was marvelous thought to make a note of. 🙂

It was my turn now. 😛 I was asked, ‘A type of mistake which you would never want to do?’ I took a couple of seconds and said, ‘I could never cheat on anyone. It’s a wrong doing I couldn’t live with. Knowing that you destroy someone’s trust is bad, but destroying someone’s perspective on love is far too worse.’ 🙂

Another question was thrown to the funny guy, ‘If you want to gift a book to your friend sitting next to you. What will be the book named?’ He laughed at the question first. 😀 He knows the person next to him very well. He shortly replied, ‘:D How to start a conversation to make friends. Very much he is in need of this.’ 😀

The last question was asked to my friend who was just listening to everyone’s thoughts.
The question to him was, ‘Tell one of the worst part of not being friends with someone anymore?’.
All of a sudden the smile was lost. 😐 I was aware of the condition he was in the recent past. He didn’t looked at anyone and it appeared that he was dragged back in memories. He answered, ‘One of the worst part is you cannot talk to them. You cannot tell them all the little things you used to share with them. You cannot tell them as they are no longer part of your life. It is sad because you used to tell them everything but now you can’t and it is weird.’ 😦

To ease out the serious faces around, he brought back the smile on his face and pretended that everything is all right. The other guys also got relieved after seeing the smile back on his face. How easily he managed to convince his mates who were unaware of his state. It is explainable that people smile to hide pain, sometimes people laugh to hide the tears.

A smile can hide so much pain. 😐
